UPDATE 2: Demo
It’s Demo Day(s)! We’re stripping this Kitchen down to the bones, so we can start building our clients’ new re-imagined space.
Starting The Demo
The demo for this St. Paul Kitchen remodel took four days, with an additional day for professional asbestos abatement. The existing cabinets, countertops, fixtures, and appliances were all removed.

Treasure!
All the trim and casings were removed from the walls and doorways. Our team then took down all the plaster, lathe, sheetrock, and wainscot from the walls and ceiling. While demoing the walls, we found an exciting piece of history…the home’s original plaster inspection notice from 1926! You never know what treasures you are going to find in the walls of an old home.

Opening The Windows
The windows facing the backyard were removed. An existing radiator under this window was uninstalled and saved for later to be repositioned to an adjacent wall. Then the window opening was enlarged to prepare for the new patio door that will eventually open to the new deck.

Keep It Clean
Site protection is important to us during every job. In this remodel site protection has been set up in the stair and doorway to the finished Lower Level just off the Kitchen, and also at the doorway to the adjacent Dining Room.

Asbestos Abatement
The linoleum flooring in the Kitchen from the 80s had two more layers of linoleum underneath it. These two lower layers tested positive for asbestos, so all of the linoleum had to be removed by asbestos abatement professionals. To make sure no trace of asbestos remained, hardwood underneath all layers of linoleum covered in contaminated adhesive was removed.
