Welcome to White Crane Design Build.

Improving Twin Cities neighborhoods, one house at a time.

You may have heard of us.

For decades, White Crane has been known for rejuvenating the charming older homes that define Minneapolis and St. Paul neighborhoods—the bungalows, foursquares, Tudors, and story‑and‑a‑half homes that give these cities their character.

And, because we’re so good at navigating the quirks and complexity of older homes, we’re uniquely equipped for all types of challenging projects—downtown condos, midcentury ramblers, you name it.

Wherever you live in the Twin Cities, we’re here to make your home everything you want it to be.

What’s a design/build firm (and why is White Crane one of the best?)
What else sets White Crane apart?

Discover the difference of a woman-led team.

Our founder and owner, Susan Denk, started White Crane in 2002. Since then, she’s built a reputation as one of the best design-build firms in the state, with an entire team that’s passionate about fulfilling your dreams for your house.

Our superpower is that we’re extremely efficient at making those dreams come true, and our secret sauce is that we’re women-led. Susan puts it this way, “As a woman growing up in a non-traditional business, I had to be more sensitized to what people were thinking and feeling,” says Susan. “A woman in this industry is going to learn how to be a super communicator.”

Individual experts. Powerhouse team.

Everyone at White Crane is a lifelong professional in the construction industry, and when you work with us, you’ll have each of us involved with your project, right from the start. Our team is large enough to handle all the angles, and close‑knit enough to communicate clearly with you and with each other.
