Craftsman-style Kitchen Remodel Near Lake Nokomis
Transforming a 70s Kitchen in a 1900s Farmhouse into an Entertainer’s Dream
Sarah and Craig fell in love with a 1900s Minneapolis farmhouse near Lake Nokomis, despite its 70s kitchen with fluorescent lighting. This couple wanted a new kitchen that supports their love for cooking and entertaining. They worked with a White Crane designer to eliminate all of the kitchen’s pain points. The remodeled kitchen design added a chef-grade oven, a custom spice cabinet, updated flooring, and a custom bar space, complete with wine racks, glass-fronted cabinets, and drawers deep enough to hold Craig’s jars of bitters. Moving the sink below a window and widening a tight doorway created better flow and functionality for the space. The oak cabinets and stone backsplash give the remodeled kitchen a craftsman-style vibe. Craig and Sarah’s new kitchen has been getting plenty of use— whether it’s dinner parties with friends or many, many dinners for two.
"Everyone at White Crane was very interested in what our life was, and working around that, instead of just bringing some sort of prepackaged plan and plopping it down in front of us. They really were working with who we are."
Craig Olson, Homeowner
