How Much Does it Cost to Remodel a Kitchen in the Twin Cities?
Are you dreaming of a new kitchen and wondering how much you’ll need to invest? We breakdown the costs for two kitchen remodels and what factors drive those costs.
Howe area homeowners loved their Minneapolis bungalow, especially considering its proximity to a nearby park. After two decades in the home, space and storage limitations were becoming an obstacle, though. So they started house hunting. Despite the hefty expense of purchasing a home, properties in neighborhoods they considered still weren’t going to fit their long-term needs without additional after-purchase changes. The pair decided they’d rather reconfigure their current 1919 home than move into a house that still wasn’t perfect for them. Designing the resulting remodel was about allowing the home to accommodate their future needs and solve their spatial concerns with a kitchen and mudroom addition, a new main-level bathroom, and a full basement build-out. The spacious mudroom offered plenty of room to enter and exit the home without feeling pinched by the nearby basement staircase. The kitchen gained additional prep space, storage, and upgraded finishes. And by finishing their basement, the couple now enjoys over 800 additional square feet of livable space, which includes an extra bedroom, a full bath, a recreational/exercise space, and a laundry room.
“It’s a great neighborhood. We like this place. Why don’t we renovate it?” – Howe Bungalow Homeowners
“But from the house hunting process and considering the pain points of the current home, we decided to really do something a bit bigger, to go down and out, especially because our kitchen wasn’t meeting our needs.” – Howe Bungalow Homeowners
“And especially as we think about aging, coming into an entryway that is a couple of feet before you fall down the stairs wasn’t ideal. It was important to look ahead and provide a transition when we walk in from our back door, because that is our main door.” – Howe Bungalow Homeowners
“The designer brought good choices to the table for us to choose from, which made the process a lot better. She knew what was timeless yet still trendy. It was nice that we had choices but it wasn’t overwhelming.” – Howe Bungalow Homeowners
“We got daily updates, and then weekly we had either a virtual walkthrough when we were away, or we met in person and walked through the site. It was good to see.” – Howe Bungalow Homeowners
