Timeless Character Near Lake Nokomis

Kitchen Remodel Creates the Feeling of Timeless Elegance in this 1926 Home

We’ve worked with this Lake Nokomis area family over the course of several remodels. In this project, our clients asked us to create a kitchen that aligned with the character of their 1926 home with the addition of some necessary updates. To start, we opened up the space by gutting the original kitchen and incorporating what was once the butler’s pantry into the now, much larger room. Birch cabinets with dark stain match the home’s thick baseboards and oak floors. Complimenting neutral tones on the walls, backsplash, and quartz countertop create a timeless charm that fits with the character of the rest of the home. In the dining room, a custom built-in matching the kitchen cabinets tie both rooms together.

Lake Nokomis Lower Level Remodel

White Crane also tackled a full lower level remodel that featured a finished laundry room, game room, family room with a wet bar, poker and wine room, as well as a remodeled bathroom. Luxury vinyl plank flooring was selected for its character and durability, as the family often comes in and out through the Lower Level when visiting Lake Nokomis to skate or fish. Designers carefully selected all the millwork, cabinetry, and fixtures to look as if they’d always been inside the 1926 home.

Lake Nokomis Upper Level Bathroom Remodel

Before the remodel, the layout of this upper bath was suited for a family’s lifestyle 90 years ago. To accommodate the current owners, we separated the tub and shower,  replaced a pedestal sink with a double vanity, and added plenty of storage. Modern tiles and expansive updates to the plumbing made this bathroom feel refreshed, honoring the longevity and quality of the home.
